I’ve got an issue with my a/c. I was driving on the interstate with it working fine. I had to pass a vehicle and speedup, which the car geared down one gear as soon as the rpm’s went up the compressor stopped. The air went hot immediately. I knew it needed to be charged up so I bought a can to charge it. The gauge, both gauge I tried, read green. I was a bit puzzled but I checked all fuses and relays, all good. Compressor is getting power. Any ideas on what it could be? I’m thinking that it’s possibly the clutch has went out.

Just adding more AC refrigerant won’t solve the issue in most cases. I would actually let a mechanic empty the AC system with a machine and recharge with the right amount and then start the troubleshooting from there. If there is not the right amount it could cause many issues. 🙂
