Car Forum › Repair & Maintenance › Starting problems – Mercedes-benz C 1.8 CDI 2006
My Mercedes 1.8 CDI died on me while driving, it started again briefly but then died again and failed to start since. The mechanic who attended said it was showing 2 faults, one being the EGR valve the other the turbo. He said it would be unusual for both to fail and thought that one would be triggering a fault to show in the other but was unable to diagnose the problem himself
I had come to terms that if it’s the turbo it would be too costly to repair however I have been told that if turbo or EGR valve are faulty the engine should start. Is there anything else I should have checked before I scrap the car? A bit of additional info. The car seemed to lack power at higher revs a day or 2 before it broke down
any advice greatly appreciated
