Car Forum › Repair & Maintenance › Shaking when Idle/Accelerating – Ford F-150 5.4 2009
So my truck starts up just fine, but after a few minutes of idling it starts to “knock” and shake, kind of like a washing machine.
This shaking stops when I press the gas pedal, and it feels pretty smooth for a bit, but at around 40mph (when it rolls up into the next gear) it starts the washing machine-like shaking again.
Any ideas/suggestions on what could be causing this shaking at both idle and higher acceleration?

could be a couple of things, example a spark plug, or a bad plug wire. some cars and truck will shake if a plug is going bad. Have you had the truck scanned for errors? you could check the plugs by grounding each wire seperatly by grounding it out. You will tell if it is bad as the engine will run differently
