Car Forum › Repair & Maintenance › Do I Really Have An Oil Leak? – Toyota Matrix 2008
Hi,
I took my Matrix to a shop for an oil change. They said they couldn’t change the oil because the valve cover gasket is leaking oil badly.
But later, I checked my oil and it was full. There was oil between the two holes on the dipstick. In fact, it was up to the top hole. But it’s only a thin film. I added a quart to be sure. Then the oil was past the top hole.
So, my question is, how can my oil be full if I have a bad leak? Am I misreading the dipstick somehow? Is the shop lying to me? Or is there some other explanation? Thanks.
