In neutral there’s no issues, revs to whatever. When you put it in drive or reverse as soon as the revs hit 2000 the car just turns off. No idea what’s causing it or how to fix, any advice?

    Hi.

Do you have any warning lights on the dashboard?

This could be a faulty torque converter, slipping clutch, or other internal problem in the transmission itself. The sudden drop in RPM as you try to engage gear puts stress on the transmission, causing it to stall.

It’s important to remember that attempting repairs on your car yourself can be dangerous and may void your warranty. It’s strongly recommended to consult a qualified mechanic to diagnose and fix the problem safely and effectively.

This is the most likely culprit. In neutral, there’s no load on the engine. But when you shift to drive or reverse, the transmission engages a gear, putting a load on the engine. If the transmission is malfunctioning, it might not be able to handle this load, causing the engine to stall to protect itself.
